Diane at A Picture Is Worth 1,000 Words is hosting Trash to Treasure Tuesday today. Go visit to see what things people are "reinventing". I hate to throw things away - so often they are possessions of someone who has meant something special. That's the case with my table pictured below. This table set in our basement loaded down with my mom's sewing machine and sewing supplies when I was a kid. It had been her mom's dining room table. Mom remembers throwing her coat on it when she came in from school which irritated her mom no-end. As my mom and dad were getting ready to downsize this table was going "to go". I couldn't let that happen. So my husband and I brought it home; cut the legs down; stripped the really dark stain from it; and polyurathaned it. There you have it - a beautiful coffee table. Now, you ask, did I throw away the leftover legs? Are you kidding - NO! They are used as bases for displaying birdhouses or "what have you".

What a great way to repurpose your family table. I love the story (and memories) behind it!
Your table is beautiful and what a great story! Good job of redoing it.
Hi Pam!
The coffee table looks brand new! You and your husband did a great job on it.
I loved the trick that was played by your husband on your grandchildren on Halloween! They are so cute. I'm expecting my first grandchild soon --can't wait!

What a gorgeous coffee table that turned out to be. A great idea for a lovely treasure. I love the legs.

Pam, thanks for your visit and comment. We live in Franklin, NC. We are in the mountains about an hours drive from the Smokey Mountain National Park. The cabin is next to our home.

Hi Pammiejo
I added you to my favorites also! Thanks!
You are so right about the "worry list" lol --I am already doing that!
Hugs, Pat
