Tuesday's Trash to Treasure

What to do with an old rickety ladder that cost $1 at a garage sale - that was the dilemma. First it had to sit in the garage for a while so I could think. I had seen a picture of a ladder hanging on a wall with plates attached to the rungs in a magazine and I loved that so I added a little white paint with a dry brush to one piece of it and hung plates. I decided that it would be good also over the sink/counter in my half bath off my kitchen. The theme in this bath is "a potting shed" look. DH hung this piece of the ladder from the ceiling. I decorated it with some vine, dried flowers, and a small birdhouse. It wasn't easy taking a picture in this little bitty bathroom so I took two pics hoping you'd be able to tell how it works in there. Go over to Diane's A Picture is Worth 1,000 Words and see what others have done with their trash with unlimited possibilities.

I love ladders! And I can't believe you got this for $1! In antique shops they are so much higher. I love what you did with it in both rooms Great find! Hope you'll come check out my treasure, too.

Thanks for sharing!

Sheila

P.S. I love your turkey border!

Looks so charming! Ladders, old windows and old doors seem to be a new decorating theme and I have seen some really great ones.
Great find!

I love the hanging ladder in the bathroom, it adds a lot of character and texture. I've been looking for the perfect old ladder (with round rungs, of course) to use as a hanging pot rack over the stove when we finish our kitchen remodel.

Please stop by my blog and pick up a free copy of my new cookbook, "Finish The Feast: Leftover Turkey They'll Love To Eat!" It's filled with yummy recipes and is suitable for printing and giving as a gift.

Hugs,

Victoria
