Thrifty Collection - Beer Bottle Path

This is a very thrifty post because we are recycling beer bottles at our house. We have had friends and family saving beer bottles for the past year in order to build a bottle path in the back garden. My DH finally decided we probably had enough bottles to build it - we had boxes and boxes of bottles. He started building a week ago and the path is probably 15 feet long by now and, guess what, we are out of bottles. We are shocked. DH says we used about 750 bottles and we probably need about 500 more to finish it. Who would have thought it? So, we are once again encouraging family and friends to "keep drinking". I am liking the way it looks - and what a conversation piece it will be!

That is a wonderful idea and lovely path. Also, about the best reason I have heard to drink beer! (I am no beer drinker!)

Wow Pammiejo -- that is a wonderful idea! It looks so pretty! It wouldn't do well up here as we get ice and snow but in your area it will last and last.

I wonder if you wrote to a local brewery and sent them photos if they would send you empty bottles?

Love this! I just found your blog post(from pinterest) and see that it was 3 yrs ago! Did you finish? I'm doing wine bottle edging now and getting everybody to save them for me. Yay for fun gardens!

Love love love this...but did you have to cut each bottle in half? Or did you just bury the whole bottle...great idea!

Hi Pam - FYI, we blogged earlier this month about your beer bottle path on our garden living website, www.QuestionAndPlanter.com. Any changes? Just let me know (emmon@QuestionAndPlanter.com). It's such an incredible achievement! Congrats! Emmon

Hi Pam,
Your beer bottle path is super. I posted a link to it with a photo on Pick-A-Pepper's facebook page. Lot's of people saying it wouldn't work because of rain, freezing, etc...Was wondering if you would like to post a recent photo, or share how it turned out 3 years later? Would love to get your input in the discussion. Thanks,Emma

Hi, this is wonderful and I am attempting the same :) Did you fill the bottle with soil? Have any broken from foot traffic/weight?

Thank you!
