Vintage Thursdays - It's a Picnic!

Once again I'm participating in Vintage Thingies Thursday sponsored by Colorado Lady. Today I'm sharing my collection of vintage metal picnic baskets. These were popular back in the 40s and 50s. I've gathered these from flea markets and garage sales.
There are many on the market that are in the shades of brown and tan so if I buy one now, I'm looking for other colors. These are perfect for storage but mine are all empty - which is not very bright on my part. So, I've decided that I need to store some of my excess dish towels, pot holders, etc. in them.

Be sure to visit Colorado Lady and see all the other "collectors of Vintage" out there in blogland.

Oooo, I love these! I know I'd be using them for storage. I live in a rather "cozy" home so storage is at a premium and I must get creative. These would fit right in over here. I think you just inspired me to start my own collection.
Enjoy your day and thank you so much for sharing!

Those are so cool! I have a couple in the garden but they were already rusty when I got them! Storage is always needed here(-:

Oh, a collector after my own heart! These are one of my favorite things to collect, and yes, they're great for storage. I keep a stack of empty ones in the family room. When company is dropping by unexpectedly, they can hold a lot of clutter!

Hmm but how will you know what is in which basket? I think you will need labels tied to the handles!

I love picnic baskets. I have several woven ones but no metal ones. Your collection is awesome. May have to start looking for those. My daughter is planning a wedding reception for later in the spring and we are using picnic baskets as decorations.
